Consols at 80Research Topic

This research focuses on wealth, investment and gender in England and Wales between 1870 and 1930.  In particular it examines the nature of women’s wealth holding and share ownership during these years concentrating on four main research questions:

How important were women in the overall investment population between 1870 and 1930?

What types of investment did different groups of women investors favour and how did these alter over the period in question?

What motivated women’s choice of investments?

What were the effects of regional differences on investment behaviour.
